The Premier Middle East Awards for Watches, Jewellery and Pens

Manama, Bahrain:The winners of the sixth edition of the Premier Middle East Watches, Jewellery & Pens Awards will be announced in a glittering ceremony at the Ritz Carlton Hotel on 26 October 2011.

Organised by the publishers of Arabian Watches and Jewellery Magazine, MPP-ME, this invitation only event takes place on the sidelines of Jewellery Arabia 2011 under the patronage of His Excellency Dr. Hassan Abdullah Fakhro, Bahrain’s Minister of Industry & Commerce.

The awards recognise jewellery, watch and pen brands for their creativity and distinction and aims to turn the spotlight on the industry’s fortunes in the Middle East – which is already one of the fastest growing regions in the world for many of the participants.

A total of 483 online nominations for the awards have been received from some of the finest international brands, including Van Cleef & Arpels, Cartier, Chopard, Piaget, Audemars Piguet, IWC Schaffhausen, Vacheron Constantin, Hublot, A. Lange & Sohne, Chanel, Panerai, Harry Winston, Dewitt, Richard Mille, Ulysee Nardin, MB&F, F.P.Journe, Parmiguani, Corum, De Grisogono, Damiani, Pasquale Bruni, Palmiero Carlo, Dunhill, Montegrappa, Montblanc and Pelikan amongst many others.

The award results are determined by a public online vote and an independent committee especially empanelled by Arabian Watches and Jewellery Magazine, comprising of watch, jewellery and pen collectors with no direct commercial ties to the industry.

openDespite the ongoing economic recession, which has dented the industry in many parts of the world, the response to this year’s edition of the Middle East Premier Awards by participating brands is very encouraging, and can be viewed as an affirmation of the growing business prospects and recognition of retail potential in the region,

said Arabian Watches & Jewellery Magazine publisher Nader Freiha.

A total of 20 awards will be presented to ten watch category winners and five winners in each of the jewellery and pen categories.

Since its inception in 2005, The Premier Middle East Watches, Jewellery & Pens Awards has become a regular feature of the Jewellery Arabia exhibition series held at the Bahrain International Exhibition & Convention Centre. The Awards have steadily grown in terms of nominations and votes received. The Awards also serve as a reflection of industry trends and are a barometer of industry and public sentiment.
